PUBLISHER’ S MESSAGE

“ Being busy does not always mean real work. The object of all work is production or accomplishment and to either of these ends there must be forethought, system, planning, intelligence, and honest purpose, as well as perspiration. Seeming to do is not doing”
THOMAS A. EDISON

By this time of the year educators are rushed off their feet. There is so much going on, that it is easy to forget to breathe. Like the quote above states, we have to be extremely careful not to mistake being busy for being productive. Productivity requires strategic planning as well as hard work. As teachers, we are no strangers to hard work, in fact we often thrive on it, but in the midst of working hard and doing the best for our students, we must not neglect our wellbeing. Remember to take time to breathe.

We here at Teach Middle East Magazine, have been extremely busy with our fair share of events. Our schedule becomes quite packed at this time of the year, so much so that we have nicknamed this period, the education events season. The season started with the second annual Middle East Maths Teachers Conference, which was held on February 24, 2018 at the Le Meridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Centre. The event was a resounding success, it attracted just under 200 delegates from the Middle East and further afield. The sessions were impactful and the day provided mathematics educators with the unique opportunity to network and learn together. We look forward to next year’ s event.

Things are just heating up, as following GESS Dubai there is the Education Experts Conference on March 5-6 in Dubai, which will then be followed by the British Schools Middle
