Beauty

TakE care of your“ beauty”

Over the last few years, many of us have witnessed an evolution in perceptions about beauty. Gone are the days where one particular look is held as the epitome of what is beautiful.

This has lead to women all over the world accepting that there are many different‘ beauty’ standards today. For example, being‘ fresh-faced’ is considered beautiful, in the same way, going out with a face that is‘ beat to perfection’ is lauded. It depends on what one likes.
Most importantly, inner beauty, rooted in having self-confidence and being kind and thoughtful, has taken centre stage.
That said, even if you are a minimalist when it comes to using makeup, most women like to dabble now and then. Seasoned makeup users are able to create flawless looks in a very short time. Amateurs take a while longer. For busy professionals who are amateurs, but wish to use makeup, sometimes it’ s just not worth the time.
Today, there are numerous events and activities that demand a change in look and style. While outfits and accessories are great in distinguishing how to dress, for women, hair and makeup are also key factors.
Below are some general beauty tips that a few seasoned makeup users have shared to help the rest of us in getting our makeup game a bit more on point.
Weather and climate count
While it gets cool around here from November to March, we live in a desert that often has searing temperatures during the daytime. During the day, keep your makeup minimal. Consider using sheer makeup on particularly hot and humid days.
Lasting hair colour
To prevent hair colour from fading in the hotter months, use a conditioning treatment weekly or bi-monthly.
Running eyeliner tip
To keep eyeliner from running and smearing, opt for liner formulas that offer smudge-proof / waterproof capabilities.
Cat-eye perfection
Select a thin liner brush that is tapered to the point. Use a gel eyeliner for a longer lasting look.
Red lips
Get a red lipstick that looks good with your undertone. If you have a warm undertone, then go for warmer reds. If your undertone is cool, then go cooler. If you aren’ t sure what your undertone is, ask the makeup professional at the makeup counter for help.
Red lipstick fear
If you think it will look great on you but are afraid to go for it, try wearing it as a stain by blotting it off. You can also use your fingers to apply it.
Oil control
Use blotting papers to manage oil and shine in your T-Zone. These papers also work well with cleaning up excess makeup around the eyes.
Exfoliating is important
Use a facial exfoliator bi-weekly to get rid of dead skin. Makeup will look better on a clean, smooth canvas.
Pimple control
There is nothing more annoying than a pimple popping up when you have an important event. Don’ t pick at it. The bacteria on your fingers will create more redness. Also, attempting to pop it will make things worse.
Makeup removal process
Some women follow different steps with key products for removing heavy makeup. Find a regimen that works for you. Even if your makeup was lightly applied, never go to bed with makeup on your face.
Keep lipstick in place
Use a longwearing lip pencil to create the perfect shape and lip colour. This will help to keep your lipstick in place.
Chipped nail fix
A chipped nail can ruin a fabulous manicure in record time. If you have chipped nail polish, and can’ t make it to the nail salon just before an important event, add glitter on top to disguise the look of chipping.
Makeup bag upkeep
Clean out your makeup bag at least once a year to get rid of old products that may be expired or those you no longer use.
Concealer help
Use concealer as a base on your eyelids. Concealer will help to absorb oil and your eyeshadow will stick to the product instead of your lids, making it stay longer.
Try gel
If you are an amateur, but love the liquid eyeliner look, you will probably make a mess when it comes to using it. To achieve a similar look, try a gel liner.
Good health is beautiful
From glowing skin to healthy hair, strong nails to a fabulous figure, the healthier you are, the more evident it will be in your appearance. Try a daily multi-vitamin with Biotin to help hair grow faster.
Hair colour quick fix
To cover up roots in a hurry, use a dry shampoo spray for your hair colour. If you don’ t keep this product around, use eyeshadow in a shade closest to your hair colour for a quick fix.
