Featured School subjects on our curriculum and student achievement As with many schools who offer a high quality provision in the arts, Al Dhafra has seen that this strategy has a positive impact in other areas of the curriculum and school life. “We have seen a year on year improvement in nearly all of our more academics subjects, including Mathematics and Science subjects. The school is a US College Board Center and over the past few years, the students have achieved some of the highest SAT scores ever, in both Mathematics and English. Our Grade 12 students have also excelled in the Ministry of Education (MoE) assessments, in both Arabic and Islamic Studies, with 100% of graduating students being accepted in universities, both here in the UAE and across the world. Through developing a more creative and engaging curriculum, the students’ learning has been enhanced in so many ways, with the children making links between the different areas of study. For example, in preparation for the UAE National Day, middle school students were involved in a technical drawing activity where they chose landmarks such as the Grand Mosque and Burj Khalifa, and learned how to create scaled drawings of their chosen buildings. This task supported their mathematical and scientific understanding, whilst through adopting a thematic approach, the art work also supported the topics being covered in UAE Social Studies and extracurricular activities. The middle school girls were also involved in preparing a traditional Emirati dance, at the same time, which they performed at the Ministry of Finance, as part of the Etisalat National Day celebrations. Al Dhafra Private School is extremely proud of the work of their young artists, their levels of excellence and the impact which their work has had on the life of the whole school. Through their experiences of studying the arts, we are sure that they will lead more successful lives, whilst creating many special memories which will last forever. 26 Term 2 Jan - Mar 2020 Class Time
