Beaches Tourist Attractions
Barbados is a beach lovers paradise.
It has some of the most stunning
beaches in the world. Its different
coasts offer beaches that range from
powdery sand and cerulean waters
of the Caribbean to the perfect
swells of the eastern Atlantic coast.
Sequestered from the luxury resorts,
the rugged Atlantic coast is where
surfers and naturalists flock. You could
not be blamed for wanting to spend
your entire holiday on this beautiful
island just hopping from one beach
to another. I spent at least half of my
week simply lying on my hotel’s beach
reading and indulging in some of the
island’s best beverages. If you can manage to tear yourself
away from the beach, the island
of Barbados has some wonderful
attractions to explore. I did not use the
hotel’s recommended tours, instead, I
met a local taxi driver and who offered
to show me around the island at a
reduced rate. It is relatively safe to do
this, but just check that the taxi driver
is registered, by looking for the red
registration plate on the vehicle and
ensuring that the driver’s ID badge
is visible. You can also rent a car and
drive yourself. Just remember that they
drive on the left in Barbados like they
do in England. The island is small so
you could easily tour the entire island
during your week-long vacation. Make

TOP TIPS
When to visit: The sun shines all
year round in Barbados and there
is really no bad time to visit, but
if you do not want to pay a high
price for everything then avoid the
winter tourist season of December
through to mid-April. This is when
the island is busiest and prices
tend to be quite high.
Villas: If you are travelling in a
group of four or more people, it
might be better to book a villa
and the island has plenty of luxury
villas on offer, many located
directly on the beach, with their
own private swimming pool. The
majority of the villas have their
own full complement of staff, from
driver to cook and gardener. You
would be living like true royalty.
