appy New Year and welcome
to 2018! We hope you had a
wonderful winter break, filled
with lots of rest, relaxation and
time to connect with family
and close friends. What are you hoping
to achieve this year? If like many, you have
set out goals and/or made resolutions, we
wish you all the success in achieving them.
Like the quote above says, start by doing
what is necessary, then what is possible
and pretty soon you will be doing what
you once thought was impossible. Before
you start anything make sure to establish
your “why” if you know why you want to
do or achieve something, then half your
battle has been won, because your “why”
will keep you going when things get
tough.
Here at Teach Middle East Magazine,
our why is very simple. We believe that
educators should be celebrated and that
the education sector in the Middle East
deserves a media platform that celebrates
the achievements of educators, share the
good practice that is taking place in the
region’s schools and provide a place for
educators to connect with each other.
That is why we work so hard to make sure
that our content is fit for purpose, and
your tweets, testimonials and emails, tell
us every day that we are on the right track.
We thank you for your continued support.
In this issue, we head over to Muscat to
take a closer look at the fantastic things
that are happening at The British School
Muscat. In the “Class Time” section of the
magazine, we examine what the future of
education might look like and talk about
how we can prepare our students for
an uncertain future. At this time, many
educators are either considering moving
schools or applying for promotions, we
have some great articles to help you in this

process. Are you thinking of reorganising
your classroom in this new term? Before
you begin, head over to our conversation
with Dr Peter Barrett and learn about the
impact the classroom environment has on
students’ learning and attainment.
