DEVELOP. EMPOWER. The heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight but they while their companions slept were toiling upwards through the night. - Henry Wadsworth Longfellow The above stated quote is reminiscent of our tireless commitment to what we do. We believe wholeheartedly in providing you, our valued educators, with the resources that you need to be the very best in your professional and personal lives. We share the same passion that many of you do for teaching and learning and we understand the challenges that are faced daily because every single member of our team is a teacher. Educators, you have spoken and we have listened. Later this year, Teach UAE Magazine will be renamed Teach Middle East Magazine (www.teachmemag. com). We are excited about this change, which will truly reflect all the members of the ‘Teach UAE’ family who are currently teaching in classrooms all over the Middle East. This issue focuses on safety. As such, both our Class Time and After the Bell sections of the magazine feature articles that highlight the importance of ensuring student safety in and out of the school environment. We were pleased to meet the delightful students and teacher of Grade 4A at Raffles World Academy, who have taken the lead in campaigning for stricter seat belt laws to govern the UAE roadways. We encourage you to check out our featured school, teacher and 6 | Mar - Apr 2015 | | student articles, to learn more about this amazing project and how you and your students can get involved by taking the Seat Belt Pledge. After the Bell also includes an intimate look at some rarely discussed, personal issues that affect teachers; such as teacher burnout and depression. Our featured travel takes you to Thailand and the refreshing attractions that may just be the place for you to getaway to this holiday break. We were happy to discover the fantastic BreakSlow Brunch experience at the Fairmont The Palm Dubai, which is filled with delicacies and offers a perfectly relaxing and scenic view of the Dubai Marina. March-April in this region is the ideal time to go outside and enjoy some great outdoor activities before it gets too hot. Make time for play and remember a happy, well rested and healthy teacher is the best teacher. __________ __________ CAROLYN LEE Editorial Director Class Time CONTRIBUTORS Aaron Crotty, Maryann Reid, Aisha Shakti Hakim, Carolyn Lee, Leisa Simapili, Betina Feuntes, Dr Jan L.
