Signature by Sanjeev Kapoor
By Alona Ballard
Would you fancy a 14-course meal?
How about a dish described as art
on a plate? Does food prepared with
the healing properties of Ayurveda in
mind have you intrigued? If so, then
Abu Dhabi’s newly opened Signature
by Sanjeev Kapoor is right up your
alley.
With three Dubai restaurants already
under his belt, Indian celebrity chef,
Sanjeev Kapoor, has now entered the
Abu Dhabi market with a bang.
Kapoor, who gained fame in India as
a TV host turned media mogul has
an impressive resume which includes
authoring several cookbooks and
serving as a judge on Master Chef
India.
Of course a famous name alone
can’t keep the customers coming.
The restaurant’s Head Chef, Akshay
Nayyar, says diners can expect
some thing different every time they
come in.
We are trying to
produce new menus
all the time. In one month it
may change.

Right now on the menu you’ll find
dishes such as Murg Zatar Parmesan
Tikka, Lemon Grass Butter Chicken
and Tiger Prawn Biriyani. If that sounds
good, wait until you see it!
Signature prides itself on its beautiful
plating to deliver a high-level
experience to the guest. “Sense of
sight is important,” says Chef Nayyar,
“especially with social media.”
Signature, located in Nation Towers
along Abu Dhabi’s Corniche, is a feast
for the eyes as well as the stomach.
The interior does its part to create an
atmosphere of calm sophistication.
You’re greeted at the door with a
floor to ceiling waterfall flanked by the
flags of India and the UAE. Diners can
choose a seating option that provides
privacy or an expansive view from the
terrace.
After The Bell
Many of Signature’s dishes offer an
Arabic fusion by including herbs such
as zatar, while the healing properties
of many traditional Indian spices like
cumin and saffron offer an Ayurvedic
benefit.
“Indian food is rich in medicinal value,”
says Chef Nayyar.
Signature is not your run-of-the-mill,
neighbourhood Indian restaurant. It’s
quite high-end. Expect to spend 7080AED on a starter and upwards of
150AED for your main course.
If you are looking for
that ultimate dining
experience, go ahead and
try their 14-course meal at
399AED per person.
