HOW HAS DIGITAL LITERACY TRANSFORMED THE WORLD OF EDUCATION ?

The digital revolution is the power to use digital ideas to enable and transform how we function , enhancing nearly every aspect of our evolving daily life . It does create an agile learning environment , transforming how adults and young people access information , communicate , learn and even play . The average teacher must be able to adapt to the upcoming digital trends , knowing how to navigate , program , create and design lessons in minutes or even seconds . The standard of assessing student knowledge has become more rigorous and more thorough than ever ! The by-laws of curriculum and level of understanding of the top curriculums are being challenged by professionals in the field of education and even by students as young as four years old .
It ’ s time to retire traditional pedagogies .
Do the conventional teaching methods such as attending lectures , work when a student has almost nonexistent brain activity ? Traditional pedagogy is usually based on fixed deadlines , teacher-determined learning outcomes , pre-used learning material , and formative assessment . In classrooms where the information is taught to a passive receiver , expected to memorise and reproduce the information , we cannot measure the level of the student ’ s knowledge ; on the other hand , the whole weight of the educational process falls on the teacher ; we must be experts . We can use our traditional systems as a reference , to lead toward a standardised application in the transmission , collaboration , and communication of ideas . We need to MASLOW to be able to BLOOM !
Shifting step by step
Now the question comes as to how can the systemic shift occur ? Literacy development is closely linked with easy access to information , emerging technologies , and the transformation and digitalisation of resources . Since learning can no longer be connected with the knowledge in the classes , it is now linked with real-life and everyday applications and the demand to upgrade at the user end . They are redefining the meaning of literacy , unfollowing the concept of language literacy , adapting and acknowledging knowledge literacy , emotional literacy , numerical literacy , and digital
