Teach For Armenia - Annual Report - 2024 | Page 52

2024 reaffirmed our core belief: lasting change begins within communities. As Teach For Armenia expanded across new regions, it became even clearer that local leadership is not just helpful-it ' s essential. When teachers and students lead, transformation becomes sustainable.

What We Learned

The Power of Patience and Agility
Driving systemic change requires both adaptability and persistence. As the Project Implementation Unit( PIU) for the Mental Health and Psycho-social Support program, we learned how local agility can bridge the gap between policy and practice, helping us navigate complex regulations while staying rooted in community needs. At the same time, our three-year journey to establish a partnership with the World Bank highlighted the importance of strategic patience, consistent alignment, persistence, and long-term vision in achieving lasting impact.
Small Pilots, Big Influence
Our work in kindergarten and emergency learning recovery demonstrated that well-executed pilot projects can drive national conversation, especially with strong data and Ministry of Education alignment.
Peer-Led Models Foster Ownership
In the Seroond program, we saw that peer-to-peer coaching among teachers yields stronger, more authentic engagement than top-down models. This insight is shaping our 2025 strategy for educator capacity building.
Data-Driven Approaches Improve Emergency Education
Our use of diagnostic tools revealed early literacy gaps in forcibly displaced students from Nagorno-Karabakh( Artsakh). These insights are now informing our inclusive remediation strategies, especially for Grades 2 – 5.
Policy Change Requires Coalition-Building
The Public Policy Lab showed us that strong proposals alone are not enough. Aligning academia, government, and practitioners is complex, and institutional inertia can slow progress. Lasting reform requires more than good ideas, it depends on strategic advocacy, coalition-building, and engaging diverse stakeholders in co-creating solutions.
