MULTILATERAL PARTNERSHIPS
The Mental Health and Psycho-social Support( MHPSS) program, funded by the World Bank through the State and Peacebuilding Umbrella Trust Fund( SPF) and endorsed by the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports( MoESCS), marked a historic milestone, Armenia’ s first instance of direct World Bank funding to a local foundation. With a 2024 project budget of $ 33,305, Teach For Armenia, as the Project Implementation Unit( PIU), brought together international standards and community-driven solutions. The program trained and supported more than 200 mentors, coordinated research across multiple agencies, and provided critical psychosocial support for displaced students. This collaboration demonstrated how global cooperation, when rooted in local leadership, can create systemic and lasting impact.
As of 2024, Teach For Armenia and UNICEF launched the Educational Progress Support Program to address learning gaps among children displaced from Artsakh due to conflict and blockade. With a 2024 project budget of $ 35,156, the initiative provided extended learning hours in 20 primary classrooms, reaching 1,157 students— 30 % from host communities— taught by specially trained educators, with postassessments showing a 35 % improvement in literacy and 31 % in math. Building on this success, plans are in place to expand the program in 2025 with a whole-child approach that integrates academic support, parental engagement, and school leadership development, aiming to involve 64 teachers across ten schools and run through December 2025, with a possible extension to May 2026. The goal is to strengthen the capacity of teachers, parents, and administrators to foster inclusive, resilient learning environments. Additionally, UNICEF and Teach For Armenia signed a Contingency Contract in 2024 to enable the rapid deployment of Emergency Responders and ensure education continuity for children during future crises.
