WORLD BANK-FINANCED PROJECT : Mental Health and Psychosocial Support in Armenian Schools
In 2023 , the Seroond team established a significant new partnership with the World Bank and the Ministry of Education , Science , Culture and Sport ( MoESCS ). This collaboration will support a mental health and psychosocial support ( MHPSS ) program tailored for forcibly displaced students from Artsakh , their families , and peers . The initiative is implemented in conjunction with the MoESCS , the Republican Pedagogical-Psychological Center , the National Center for Education Technology , and the Armenian State Pedagogical University , ensuring a comprehensive approach with a broad range of stakeholders .
The project will involve identifying 450 schools , divided equally into a treatment group and a control group . In the treatment group of 225 schools , an intensive MHPSS training program will be delivered to school staff in three rounds , with 75 schools in each round ( 75 treatment schools and 75 control schools ). The control group will facilitate an impact study to evaluate the effectiveness of the training program and determine its potential for broader implementation .
This partnership not only expands Seroond ’ s reach but also affirms the program ’ s success and potential for significant societal impact .
“ This project stands as a shining example of the collective leadership we value at Teach For Armenia . It embodies the spirit of unity , bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds , alongside state and non-state actors , all in pursuit of a common goal : improving the mental health of students in Armenia . By combining our strengths and contributions , we demonstrate that impactful change is possible when we work together .”
