RECRUITMENT
OVERVIEW
Our Teacher Leadership Program is at the heart of our mission to bring educational equity and justice to every student in Armenia and Artsakh . Each year , we recruit individuals to join this two-year program as Teacher-Leaders in rural communities . These recruits teach and expand educational opportunities for local students , grow as leaders , and embody the resilience needed to achieve our nationwide mission .
In 2023 , despite the blockade of Artsakh that persisted for most of the year ,
Teach For Armenia continued its commitment to providing excellent education and leadership opportunities in the most underserved areas . We successfully recruited recent graduates and young professionals , attracting over 1,600 applicants . The ninth generation of Teacher-Leaders began with 69 new recruits , including four from Artsakh who were initially assigned to teach in the region . Following the forced displacement of Artsakh ’ s population due to Azerbaijan ’ s large-scale invasion from September to October of 2023 , these Teacher-Leaders were relocated to Armenia , where they continue to teach and demonstrate remarkable resilience in challenging times . 1
