ARMENIA ’ S PROMISE FORUM

In October 2022 , we co-hosted Armenia ’ s Promise Forum , a multi-site event that took place over the course of two days , together with the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies and The Promise Armenian Institute in Los Angeles , California , and the American University of Armenia ( AUA ) in Yerevan , Armenia . The Forum included an Educator Summit at AUA , and an educational conference and Supporter ’ s Dinner at the UCLA Meyer and Renee Luskin Conference Center . About 370 people attended all three events , making the Forum the largest event Teach For Armenia has hosted to date .
The day-long conference held at UCLA gathered various stakeholders in education to answer the question : “ How do we prepare students in Armenia and Artsakh to shape the nation ’ s future ?” Participants included Armenian government officials , policymakers , education management practitioners , and academics , as well as representatives from Armenian education organizations and Teach For All . In-person attendees also included a
Teach For Armenia delegation of six students , four Teacher-Leaders , one Instructional-Leader , and one parent .
Leading Armenian education organizations from Armenia also participated in the conference , including TUMO Center for Creative Technologies , Children of Armenia Fund , Hidden Road Initiative , UWC Dilijan , Armenian Educational Foundation , AGBU Armenian Virtual College , Yerevan State University , and the Armenian Ministry of Education , Science , Culture and Sports ( MoESCS ). Representatives from Teach For All also participated in the conference .
The conference featured breakout discussion groups , two panels , and a working session called “ Table Talks ,” which connected conference participants with members of our school communities . Teacher-Leaders and students also shared their stories during a showcase , working with TEDxYerevan to craft their unique testimonies prior to the conference .
At the end of the conference , participants were asked to fill out cards with a personal promise they made to the students of Armenia and Artsakh . Teach For Armenia has continued to follow up with participants through personalized outreach regarding the promises they made .
