SELECTION

The 2022 selection season was the first time , since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic that we were able to host in-person matriculation activities . As a result , Teach For Armenia staff and Teacher-Leaders turned alumni , called Alumni-Ambassadors , had the opportunity to work collaboratively with applicants to the Teacher Leadership Program , and get to know them in-person during the selection process and our pre-service online courses .
Seventy three applicants were accepted into the Teacher Leadership Academy , our summer training program for new Teacher-Leaders that takes place before they teach in rural schools for two years . Applicants in 2022 included our very first STEM professional recruit , who are through Tech4Armenia , and two Teach For Armenia STEM scholarship recipients , who are in the last years of their undergraduate and graduate studies , committing to join the Teacher Leadership Program upon graduating . 1
We are continuously dedicated to using data-driven decision-making in all our work , and are therefore learning more about who our applicants are using demographic and educational data from our eighth , seventh , sixth , and fifth Teacher-Leader cohorts , in order to help us improve our recruitment and selection strategies .
1 Tech4Armenia is our collaborative recruitment initiative with Armenia ’ s leading technological companies . Through the program , technology sector employees are given the opportunity to work remotely with flexible hours so that they can also teach in public schools with Teach For Armenia .
