As a student , I have been fortunate enough to have a Teacher-Leader , Mr . Shahverdyan , who has made a profound difference in my education and personal development . His leadership both inside the classroom and in our wider community has sparked a change in values among my peers and myself .
When he first came to our village , I immediately felt Mr . Shahverdyan ’ s genuine and kind nature . Thanks to him we were able to receive books for our school , which were greatly needed . Mr . Shahverdyan taught us the values of tolerance and respect for our elders , while also becoming a close friend to many of us . Under his guidance , we interviewed retired teachers in our village and posted them on our school ’ s Facebook page to honor their legacies . Students are now more interested in the history of our community . They are curious to know not only where we come from , but also where we are going collectively . This is no doubt the result of Mr . Shahverdyan ’ s work and the leadership he is inspiring , one student at a time .
Personally , Mr . Shahverdyan has inspired me to pursue my passion for preserving the history and culture of my home . I also plan on becoming a Teacher-Leader with Teach For Armenia in the future just like him . The support and opportunities that Teach For Armenia provides has made a positive impact on my life and my village , and I believe that programs like this should be replicated across Armenia , to help students like me reach their full potential .
