The Student Voice Rubric is used to measure growth in students ’ ability to express their opinions and influence others . The tool measures whether Teach For Armenia Teacher-Leaders have been able to amplify the voices of our students over time . The rubric was used at the beginning and end of the school year , September 2020 and May 2021 , in order to determine growth across core competency areas : Argument , Idea , Word Choice , Fluency , Organization , and Assertiveness . Six hundred twenty-seven students taught by sixth-generation Teacher-Leaders participated in the assessments . By the end of the school year , they grew an average of 20 % in all competency areas .
The Student Leadership Self-Inventory is a self-perception survey that measures the extent to which students believe they have grown through the learning process . The Inventory measures leadership competencies in our students corresponding to the skills present in our Student Vision and Community Impact Philosophy , as enshrined in our Kochari . The Inventory consists of 29 statements and measures four main competencies among students : Self-awareness , Selfmanagement , Social-awareness , and Responsible Decision-Making . It is conducted at the beginning and end of the school year . Six hundred twenty-seven students taught by our sixth-generation Teacher-Leaders participated in the assessments , and demonstrated an average growth rate of 18 % in self-awareness .
In addition to the Student Voice Rubric and Student Leadership Inventory , 627 sixth-generation students were administered academic diagnostic and summative assessments at the beginning and end of the school year . Academic assessments were administered in Armenian language and history , math , science , physical education , and art . The assessments measure growth in three areas of each subject area : Knowledge , Application , and Critical Thinking according to Bloom ’ s Taxonomy . Overall , between the beginning and end of the school year , students demonstrated 51 % growth in Critical Thinking , 47 % growth in Application , and 26 % growth in Knowledge . Additionally , students grew 34 % in Content Mastery across all subject areas .
