Leadership Development

At Teach For Armenia , nothing is more important than investing in people . As such , Teacher Leadership Academy is only the beginning of Teacher-Leaders ’ development as professionals and advocates . Once they begin teaching in their placement communities , their professional development continues through Self-Guided Modules , Professional Development Days , Regional Retreats , and coaching .
Self-Guided Modules
In the first year of our Leadership Development Program , the Learning and Innovation Team designs and releases multi-media Self-Guided Modules for Teacher-Leaders to complete through Google Classroom . These allow Teacher-Leaders to strengthen and grow their knowledge of teaching and learning . Each module has two components – theory and practice – and includes a task that Teacher-Leaders must satisfactorily complete in order to proceed to the next module . Every two weeks , Teacher-Leaders are sent a new Pedagogical Module and every four weeks they are sent a new Community Innovation Module .
The Pedagogical Self-Guided Modules cover topics such as planning longterm units and daily lessons , teaching methodologies such as Change-Based Learning and social-emotional learning , implementing formative and summative assessments , and the co-creation of classroom culture . Through Community Innovation Self-Guided Modules , Teacher-Leaders learn step by step how to design and implement Community Innovation Projects . They begin by conducting empathy interviews and generating project ideas with their students and members of the community . Next , they formulate a Theory of Change , SMART goals , and a project plan , which includes a budget and impact measurement tools . In this way , Teacher-Leaders , students , and community members become practitioners of Teach For Armenia ’ s Community Innovation Philosophy . Together , they promote local ingenuity , civic responsibility , and global connectivity in rural areas of Armenia and Artsakh .
