Our Building Blocks
At Teach For Armenia , our work for educational equity is guided by a set of core values , the organization ’ s Theory of Leadership , a Leadership Framework , and our organization ’ s long-term strategy , known as “ Aragast .” These are the building blocks that propel our core program – a pipeline of Teacher-Leaders that fill critical teacher shortages and help raise the quality of education in rural communities – and all of our efforts toward fulfilling Our 2050 Promise to students born into our partner communities .
Our Theory of Leadership is known as the Teach For Armenia Kochari . Reminiscent of the Armenian national dance , our Kochari is a collection of unifying beliefs and concepts that help to synchronize our collective movement for educational equity . At the heart of Teach For Armenia ’ s Kochari is student leadership , which has guided how we plan and implement our program since the pandemic struck in 2020 . For the past two years , we have reframed all of our teacher training around Change- Based Learning and organized a Virtual Student Leadership Camp where children develop and pitch Student-Led Innovation Projects .
In 2021 , after two years of testing Change-Based Learning , we assembled an internal working group to crystallize our learnings into Teach For Armenia ’ s Leadership Framework . The Framework consists of five leadership domains that we regard to be essential in driving collective change . Each domain is then broken down into five discrete competencies that can be targeted through our various programs . In total , the Leadership Framework is a compilation of 25 competencies that can be qualified through self-evaluation as well as observations . The Framework is a tool to measure growth among our Student-Leaders , Teacher-Leaders , Alumni-Ambassadors , and staff .
In 2021 , we also revisited our core values , and for the first time since the organization ’ s founding , made slight modifications to reflect our current thinking . Our new core values include :
