On August 18th , we celebrated our growing movement of Teacher-Leaders and Alumni- Ambassadors with a virtual induction and inauguration ceremony called “ It ’ s Your Turn !” This was our first time holding the events jointly and online , and was our largest inauguration ceremony to date . During the ceremony , we welcomed a sixth cohort of Teacher-Leaders into the Teach For Armenia family and ushered our fourth cohort into their next chapter as Alumni-Ambassadors . In total , 150 people participated in the ceremony , including Teacher-Leaders , Alumni-Ambassadors , and staff .
Hosted in our newly renovated Yerevan office , our team orchestrated a live onehour event that leveraged pre-recorded messages from special guests . The virtual program included testimony from students , principals , Teacher-Leaders , Alumni- Ambassadors , and our Interim Chief Executive Officer , Ruiz Clark . Messages of support and congratulations were also recorded by Lusine Gharakhanyan ( Minister of Education , Science , Culture and Sports of the Republic of Artsakh ), Hayk Chobanyan ( Governor of Tavush region ), Teach For Armenia supporter and musician Serj Tankian , as well as former staff member Artur Martirosyan ( Deputy Minister of Armenia ’ s Ministry of Education , Culture , Science and Sports and Teach For Armenia ’ s former Director , Public Partnerships ).
Organizing and promoting the joint induction and inauguration ceremony provided us with a lot of learning to apply to future events . As we grow in scale , the online experience demonstrated our ability to leverage technology in order to foster a sense of community and movement .
“ Missions are not term-based , they last a lifetime . I am sure that whether you continue teaching at your school , or undertake education policy-making in government , or engage in non-governmental work , or in business — you will direct your full potential toward developing the education sector , because these are the issues you care about .”
