At long last , Marvel Cinematic Universe ( MCU ) fans can live like their favorite high-flying teen or hammer-wielding god without having to battle to save the world .
Avengers Campus , now open at Disney California Adventure park in Anaheim , California , finally brings the characters , combat , and comedy of the Marvel film franchise to life within a domestic Disney Park . This new 6-acre theme park expanse , located in the former location of a bug ’ s land , is crafted among the remnants of an old Stark Industries complex and filled with references to the entirety of Marvel ’ s comic books and films .
YOU ’ RE IN THE MULTIVERSE Unlike the caveats of a far-flung remote outpost like Star Wars : Galaxy ’ s Edge , which is set between new trilogy films , we ’ re here , in California , in real time . Avengers Campus exists in a “ multiverse ,” which essentially means you ’ re afforded the luxury to see both Chris Evans ’ and Anthony Mackie ’ s portrayal of Captain America , along with Iron Man in a Disney Parks-exclusive Mark 80 suit , despite the events of 2019 ’ s Avengers : Endgame . This flexibility also ensures the land will be ever-changing , allowing characters from future Disney + shows and MCU films to seamlessly arrive . ( Maybe don ’ t tell that to Loki , the god of mischief .)
When you ’ re here , it feels like anything can happen . Character appearances and entertainment occur throughout the day , often simultaneously , meaning you never know what you ’ ll see : Black Panther greeting guests or Ant-Man & The Wasp waving hello . ( Character greetings , currently offered at a distance , are likely to shift as COVID-19 protocols change in the future .)
Pass by the Quinjet perched atop Avengers HQ , and you may spot Black Widow battling Taskmaster , the nemesis of her forthcoming film , or the Dora Milaje — led by Okoye in her first Disney Parks appearance — parting the crowd to teach visitors Wakandan battle cries and commandments . Over in Doctor Strange ’ s gilded sanctum , a sight of its own by day and night , you may even see him drop in from a real-life portal .
