Festival of the Arts moves to June

It ’ s hard not to feel a little let down as I write this for the November Villager when we would have expected to be in countdown mode for
MCLAIN our annual Festival of the Arts , which was previously scheduled for Nov . 5-7 . But instead of a letdown , we are more excited than ever as we consider the opportunities gained by moving the festival to June . The biggest advantage is the ability to add the new Activities Building to our plans , allowing us to more than double our available space . When we add the Pavilion , it is mind-boggling for the planning team to contemplate .
In addition to the additional space , the June dates will allow us to take advantage of our growing partnership with Wilsonville Arts & Culture Council ( WACC ), whose Festival of Arts has evolved into smaller events , some of which will now dovetail with ours . We have also been accepted as an official community partner with Portland Rose Festival . The significance of that should result in more attendees and

overall exposure for our event . I am in the throes of writing grant applications to request funding for our festival infrastructure , including additional display panels and new easels , new registration software and other essentials that will help us to put on a world class festival . The more we receive in grant dollars , the less of our reserve we will need for these items , and the more we will have available to donate to the art classes at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools . I will report on the results in the next issue .
Donate by year end and your dollars will be matched ! A generous donor has offered to match , dollar for dollar , all donations received during November and December , up to $ 1,000 .
Donations are tax deductible and will benefit the arts programs at Canby and Wilsonville High Schools . The teachers rely on our support to help pay admission fees to art museums and student entry fees for scholastic art competitions , to purchase needed supplies for students , to offer stipends to visiting artists and much more . You can donate through the CAA website at charbonneauarts . org .

residence at a site in Wilsonville . Finally , as I wrote last month , words aren ’ t enough to praise the CAA website , charbonneauarts . org , which was beautifully designed and managed by Elaine Swyt . You can click on a link to donate , join the Friends of Charbonneau Arts and view student art from Canby and Wilsonville High Schools . Our primary mission is to raise funds to support arts education at the two schools , and with the postponement , our ability to donate will be limited by the delay . We appreciate all amounts and the generosity of Charbonneau residents is sincerely appreciated . Thank you for your support !
