Rule of the Month
Just a few reminders as we enter the fall and winter golf season :
■ In Oregon and Southwest Washington , the reporting of golf scores is from March 1 through Nov . 30 . That means If you play golf from Dec . 1 through Feb . 28 , you will not be able to report your score via the GHIN app .
■ Preferred Lies ( winter rules ) — Generally , when power carts are restricted to paths only , then Preferred Lies are in effect . Now allowed in the general areas of the course ( i . e . includes fairway and the rough , doesn ’ t include penalty areas ). This rule allows for lifting and cleaning the ball , then placing it within one club length ( not a putter ) of the original position , no closer to the hole than was the original position . ( See policy : Local Rules for Men ’ s Club Events )
■ It ’ s likely the Charbonneau Yellow Course will continue to have areas where the drainage ditches have not completely filled in with grass and you should take relief from these areas .
■ Currently there are a several “ no play zones ” marked in white paint where reseeding has been done but grass is still not filled in . You are entitled to free relief from these areas .
■ You will likely find a few stumps that have not yet been removed . During the handicap reporting season , there is no relief . Outside of the reporting season , do as you wish .
