with local suppliers to develop menus that make the most

Our current temporary display explores
decorative woodworking techniques used
by the designers and makers of the Arts
and Crafts Movement. Ingenious Woodwork
focuses on decorative wood carving,
intricate inlays and veneers and freestanding
sculpture by designers and makers including
Ernest Gimson, Arthur Simpson, Eric Sharpe
and William Simmonds.

The Paper Store houses changing displays
from a fascinating collection of archival items
held by The Wilson relating to Edward Adrian
Wilson, Cheltenham’s history, the Arts and
Crafts Movement, the Emery Walker Library
and more.
This year’s Paper Store theme is Eminent
Victorians, including a new display of private
press books ‘Rebels and Reformers’.
Wilson Arts Collective takeover
at The Wilson. Takeover events
are designed by young people
for young people, and feature
some of the best young artists,
musicians and performers
Gloucestershire has to offer.
Expect live music, performance
art, film and lots more besides.

The Wilson Arts Collective (The WAC)
is a weekly group for young people
aged 15 – 25 who love the arts. The
WAC plans events for other young
people, developing creative projects
that engage with the collections and
exhibitions at The Wilson. If you want
to get involved then come along to
one of our informal meet-ups.

Come and see this newly conserved representation of Mr Whittern
alongside other freshly displayed pieces from our fine art collection.
The picture was painted on the back door of A Whittern & Son, a
former grocer’s shop in the Suffolks in Cheltenham.
