The poppy waterfall installation is with Cheltenham Town Hall until November 2017. June sees the addition of an exhibition on the promenade created by University of Gloucestershire students.
POPPY WATERFALL
The Cheltenham Trust and GCHQ have joined forces to bring the giant‘ waterfall’ of over 9,000 handmade poppies, which helped to launch the Royal British Legion Gloucestershire County Poppy Appeal 2016, to Cheltenham Town Hall.
Located in the historic spa well area, the poppies stand from floor to ceiling filled by the natural light of the stairwell.
Members of the public are welcome to view the poppy waterfall at Cheltenham Town Hall, Monday-Friday, 10am-5:30pm. Alternatively, valid ticket holders attending a show or event will be able to view the display during show times. Please go along to see it for yourself and show your support for the Royal British Legion.
BRIAN JONES BUST
This year on 28 February would have been the 75th birthday of one of Cheltenham’ s iconic musicians; Brian Jones, founder and original leader of the Rolling Stones( 1942 – 1969). The Cheltenham Trust is marking the occasion with displays at both Cheltenham Town Hall and The Wilson( from 27 May). This bronze bust by local artist Maurice Juggins is available to view until February 2018 at Cheltenham Town Hall, a venue that Brian is known to have visited as a young musician.
Preparatory drawings and photographs for the creation of the bust, alongside other Brian Jones ephemera are on display at The Wilson.
