Commandment 3: Act like a host, not a guest

•Your social networking should be a party. Have fun! If your page is only a commercial, your prospects are likely to fast forward before they get to know you. You have three seconds to show them who you are, so think about how to make an impact.

•Connect yourself to others by tagging people and organizations. You will bring them to your page. Remember not to tag your fans and friends in promotional photos. It will turn them off and cause them to stop following your posts.

•Know who you are, and don’t be afraid to be that person. People may remove you, but for every unlike, you will gain five. Be real, don’t be boring, or don’t do it.

There is a lot going on with the Remodelers council these days. From homeshows, to appliance previews and bocce ball, we’ve got it covered. Just a few weeks ago the Remodelers Council held a booth at the Tampa Home Show at the Convention Center. RMC members were able to attend for free, network and share information bring awareness to unlicensed activity. Visit the Remodelers Council facebook page to see pictures from the homeshow.

We would also like to invite you to attend the next RMC meeting from 3-5 PM at Famous Tate on Henderson. Click here for map. Dynamark will share their latest in technology and afterward there will be a 2014 GE appliance preview complete with food and beverage. Please contact Melissa at [email protected] if you have any questions.

Commandment 2: Set a goal for every social network you join.

•Learn how to use the site and set up your profile before you go public.

•Only connect with the number of people you are able to manage. More is just more.

•Set a goal for the number of posts, and interactions, per day. Auto-posters like Hootsuite can be helpful.

•Have a plan for those whom you want to connect with and assign deadlines to each name.
