TBBA Building Barometer July 2013 | Page 4

The residential construction industry is facing building code proposals that could significantly impact the design and cost of new homes and negatively effect every builder’s ability to complete a quality project at an affordable cost.

Participation in complex codes development is an important way NAHB provides value to members. Help NAHB reach success on 750 code changes, savings possibly more than $42,000 per home.

- Meet with your state and local code officials and elected officials to gain their support.

- Ask your elected officials to allow their code officials to attend the ICC Final Action Hearings in Atlantic City, N.J. so they can vote in support of NAHB’s positions. Remember, this year, code officials must still be present in Atlantic City to vote during the Final Action Hearings. Learn more from NAHB.

remodelers @Pasco Hurricane Expo

Big thank you to Bob Nixon, Ed Bezdek and Dave Ball for attending the Pasco Hurricane Expo in June.

They acted as professors of preparation and taught many patrons about how to protect your home for a storm. It was a good crowd of over 600 qualified attendees/ homeowners, interested in securing their home. Pictures from the event are available on Facebook.

Additionally the Remodelers Council participated in the Realtor/Builder Expo with a booth where they were able to network with both the realtors and builders, discuss project, regulations and share information about the council.

Thursday, July 18th the Remodelers

Council will have their meeting at
