Taste Of Khaos #4 | Page 17

What was the time frame for 'Shattered Shores'? From start to finish.

I would say that from scratch to completion it was about 10 months, we really took our time. I don't count The Faceless Shadow which as a song was pretty much written in December 2012 immediately after Born of a Dying Star was released. As we were going through all the songs on Shattered Shores and editing and rearranging them as a band, it got the same treatment; it just existed earlier than the others. Tracking took just as long as writing, and mixing took just a week or two. Mixing was a breeze this time because of the time spent getting the best takes we could while tracking, and we also invested in renting a top shelf preamp for guitars and vocals. Let's just say that once the incredibly stressful period of writing and tracking was over, it was a joy to mix compared to our first albums. Sending it away to Jens Bogren for mastering was a great investment and it really helped take the album to the next level. I'm OK at mixing but when it comes to mastering I feel I am far less capable, and we wanted this album to slay faces!

Is there anything you would like to add for our readers?

We just want everyone to enjoy the album! We're organizing a release show now, so if people head over to our Facebook and give us a like we will keep everyone up to date. We keep close track of our messages and always respond quickly. Thanks for your time and the interview!
