Pizza Gurus
Whether cut with a knife
and fork, folded New-
York style or held free
and floppy, these are the
city’s best spots for digging
into crave-worthy pies. Located in
the heart of the historic Exchange District, Corrientes Argentine
Pizzeria pies are loaded with creative toppings on thin, crisp crust.
Try the Summertime pizza (pictured) with unconventional toppings
like pumpkin seeds and figs, or a Manitoba-inspired variety topped
with pickerel and goat cheese. Signature combinations like the
Isabella, which layers red onion, arugula, artichoke and goat cheese,
generously top perfectly coal-fired crust at modern pizza hot-spot
Carbone. The room riffs on ‘80s pizza parlours with a checkerboard
floor and booth seating, but the menu is mod at Osborne Village’s
Neapolitan-style Super Deluxe Pizzeria. Toppings range from
classics like Margherita to contemporary combos like grape, blue
cheese and rosemary garlic. The intoxicating aroma of Bonfire
Bistro’s charcoal-kissed pizzas lure hungry crowds. Crisp pears and
juicy figs complement salty prosciutto and sharp blue cheese, while
a scattering of arugula adds freshness to the oak-fired pie. Rightfully
located in Little Italy, Aurora Pizzeria serves authentic Neapolitan
pizza made by a first-gen Italian family. Order the traditional Pizza
Napoli, sauced with tangy San Marzano tomatoes and topped with
anchovies on a char-blistered, chewy crust.
