Districts face a growing deferred maintenance crisis. Attendees will learn about leveraging existing M&O dollars to comprehensively address deferred maintenance and renovation projects. For years, districts have faced difficulty finding the funding to upgrade aging facilities’ infrastructure. However, alternative funding vehicles which don’t require a bond election are available to districts that need to update facilities. This presentation will build an understanding of the benefits of tackling these projects comprehensively versus piece-meal. The session will outline the background of these units as “low hanging fruit,” and describe the efforts of the U.S. Department of Energy to improve efficiencies through the LVDT mandate going in effect on January 1, 2016. In addition, we will discuss the difference between linear and non-linear loads and their impact on efficiency of LVDT and school budgets. Attendees will be provided basic information on specifications and actions to ensure future projects, new construction, major renovations, or performance contracts comply with the new mandated LVDT.
