Addressing Existing Facility Needs with Existing M&O Dollars
Building a Culture of Employee Accountability
Room:
Presenter(s):

Jason Turner | TASB
Stetson Roane, RTSBA |
Pecos-Barstow-Toyah ISD
Jared McCurley | E3 Solutions
Hear first-hand how PBTISD thought outside the box and developed a plan to maintain and update their facilities without asking
the local community for additional tax dollars. Districts face a
growing deferred maintenance crisis. Attendees will learn about
leveraging existing M&O dollars to comprehensively address
deferred maintenance and renovation projects. For years, districts
have faced difficulty finding the funding to upgrade aging facilities’ infrastructure. However, alternative funding vehicles which
don’t require a bond election are available to districts that need
to update facilities. This presentation will build an understanding
of the benefits of tackling these projects comprehensively versus
piece-meal.
End Time: 12:00 pm

Closed Doors - Energy Inefficiency

Presenter(s):
342E
Lorenz Schoff | Energy Efficient Solutions
This presentation will inform attendees about how the Low
Voltage Distribution Transformer (LVDT) can impact the overall
energy inefficiency of their schools. The session will outline the
background of these units as “low hanging fruit,” and describe
the efforts of the U.S. Department of Energy to improve efficiencies through the LVDT mandate going in effect on January 1,
2016. In addition, we will discuss the difference between linear
and non-linear loads and their impact on efficiency of LVDT and
school budgets. Attendees will be provided basic information on
specifications and actions to ensure future projects, new construction, major renovations, or performance contracts comply
with the new mandated LVDT.
