New Partner Q&A: TCG Group Holdings TASBO SITS DOWN WITH CHRIS JAMAIL, CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER | TCG GROUP HOLDINGS Chief Investment Officer Chris Jamail TCG Group Holdings (TCG) is our newest TASBO Strategic Partner – the eighth member of our sponsorship program. Our Strategic Partners create strong, professional relationships with Texas school business officials and, as thought leaders, share their intellectual wealth. TASBO members gain timely and relevant knowledge of key products, programs and services that can make Texas’ public schools more efficient and affordable. We welcome TCG to TASBO and touched base with Chris Jamail from TCG to share more about their organization and their initiatives for Texas schools: Tell us about your company and the services you deliver to schools. The TCG Group Holdings organization was founded in 1999 by Mike Cochran and John Pesce. At the time, with over 60 years of combined experience in pension administration and investment planning, Mike and John wanted to offer a new approach to school districts and educators looking for investment and retirement services tailored toward their unique needs. This included a fee-based investment approach, as opposed to the traditional commission-based model. 18 These services include institutional investment advice to a district where we help to invest part of their fund balance and other accounts; administration of their 403b, 457b and FICA Alternative Plans; and just as important, provide individual retirement plan and asset management. To date, we have over $1.2 billion in assets under management and service for over 350,000 participants. This includes 401(k), 457(b), 401(a), FICA Alternative Plans, and individual private wealth clients. Why do you want to get more involved with TASBO and its members? For over 15 years we have worked closely with business managers, benefit coordinators, CFOs, and other individuals involved in school systems. TASBO is a great organization that provides school business officials an opportunity to learn from each other, as well as interact with the business community. Together we can identify ways we can work to benefit school children through improved operations and services. When we mentioned to clients the strategic partnership opportunity we have with TASBO, they were extremely impressed and supportive. We look forward to growing the relationship with TASBO and its members to show how we can be of service to their district. When we mentioned to clients the strategic partnership opportunity we have with TASBO, they were extremely impressed and supportive. When you’re at TASBO events, who should TASBO members look for from TCG? Tell us about your team here in Texas. TCG has a dedicated staff of individuals for each of our service areas. While partners John Pesce, Mark Woolery, and myself will be at many events, TASBO members can expect to see a specialists for each of our services. These individuals have years of experience working with schools, and in some cases, are former school employees themselves; giving them the perspective necessary to ensure that our services truly are designed to benefit school districts.
