Saint Stephen
"Stephen, full of faith and
power, did great wonders
and signs among the
people." (Acts 6:8)
Saint Stephen is the first
martyr in Christianity. He
is also one of the first
seven deacons chosen
by the apostles after the
Ascension of our Lord
God and Savior Jesus
Christ as it was mentioned
in the Book of Acts.
Stephen, which means
crown, was one of the
seventy disciples of the
Lord Jesus. Our beautiful
church remembers and
celebrates the Feast
of the translocation of
the
Saint
Stephen’s
body every year on Tout
15th. There is another
commemoration for this
great saint on Toba 1st
for his martyrdom. Saint
Stephen was so faithful
to the Lord God and, by
God’s power, performed
42
many miracles.
By God’s grace, Saint
Stephen converted many
people to Christianity.
He defeated the Jews
when they confronted
and
disputed
him.
They were unable to
withstand his wisdom.
So, they accused him
with blasphemy against
Moses and against God.
They dragged the saint
outside the city and
stoned him to death.
God
was
pleased
to glorify His name
by miracles brought
through the intercession
of His martyr. Many
Christians are named
after Archdeacon Saint
Stephen.
May the
intercessions of Saint
be upon us forever. May
the Lord God help all of
us to Hold onto His life-
giving commandments
to have a share and
an inheritance in the
kingdom of heaven.
