7 CANBERRA DISTRICTS AQUARIUM SOCIETY 2009 Breeders Award The 2009 Breeders‘ Award has been run and won! Certificates and trophy were presented at the November meeting, in case you missed it………. There was a small increase in the number of members that submitted Breeding/Spawning Registration forms in 2009 but still plenty of room for a few more. Laurie Chan came out on top in the Annual Fish Breeders‘ Award with an impressive tally of 20 different species during 2009 including 10 species bred for the first time. Laurie is edging ever closer to the coveted Grand Master Breeder‘s status. Congratulations Laurie! Coming in second was CDAS Treasurer, Andrew ?Rosco? Ross. Rosco‘s mix of 8 species from Lake Malawi and Lake Tanganyika earned him enough points to reach ?Master? breeders‘ status; he‘s now knocking on the door of ?Senior Master? status. Very close behind in third place was Christine Morton. 2009 was Christine‘s first year in the breeders award program, her breeding efforts which included 9 different species saw her jump straight to ?Advanced? status. Winner of the junior award for 2009 was Morgane Smee. Morgane breed Zebra Danios and wrote an article about it for tank talk which earned her bonus points. Laurie Chan also took out the annual Australian and New Guinean Native Fish Breeders‘ Award by breeding Black Banded Rainbow fish.
