CANBERRA DISTRICTS AQUARIUM SOCIETY
Recap on Previous Meetings
December 2009
We had our Christmas gathering and our very first Major Raffle and Auction that
was heavily sponsored by the Club as a way of thanking all members of CDAS
as well as provide yet another great reason to become and stay a financial
member of CDAS. The major raffle and auction was greatly assisted with
additional donations from sponsors and CDAS members making it a night to
remember.
January 2010
We had an extraordinary meeting to address a few constitutional issues and to
refresh some of the by-laws. These changes were necessary given the
somewhat smaller club that we have theses days as opposed to the glory days
of years gone by. In summary:
* We now have an executive committee comprised of a President, Vice
President, Treasurer and Secretary and the general committee members;
* We can only have one executive committee member that has a commercial
interest in the aquarium industry
* The roles of the general committee members have been moved out to the
by-laws
* A good behaviour by-law has been added
* Membership fees have been updated
Now that we have updated the constitution and by-laws we can get on with
keeping and promoting responsible fish keeping.
Following the business end of the meeting we had MJay give a presentation on
CO2 and planted aquarium. It was very informative and very useful at
demystifying how to set it up correctly.
February 2010
This meeting we ended up in the restaurant section of the Harmonie club with
the focus for the meeting being on the Species Conservation Project.
Laurie did a talk on the Chalinochromis sp. ndobhoi, there was a discussion on
the Breeders Award and Species Conservation Project by Skip as well as a
presentation on endler livebearers by Christine.
TopAz Freshwater Tropicals kindly donated 2 Mystery box prize packs for the
raffle.
