Honey blue eye - Pseudomugil mellis
The Honey Blue-eye is listed as vulnerable. This species is eligible for listing as vulnerable
under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (Cwlth)(EPBC Act)
as, prior to the commencement of the EPBC Act, it was listed as vulnerable under Schedule 1
of the Endangered Species Protection Act 1992 (Cwlth). This species is also listed as vulnerable under the Nature Conservation Act 1992 (Queensland).

Aquarium: Minimum 2ft, Lots of plants and bogwood. Rock
formations will provide extra cover
Water chemistry: pH 4.4 - 6.8 (5), 5 –10dH (5),
68 -82°F (20-28°C)
Social behaviour: Peaceful community fish, enjoys being
kept in groups/schools
Recommended tank mates: Small peaceful community species
FOOD: Omnivore: commercially available flake and pellet foods, frozen or freeze- dried live
foods.

Size/Length: Male 6cm, Female 6cm
Aquarium: Minimum of 2ft, a planted tank with some swimming room. Frequent water
changes are required.

Social behaviour: Peaceful community fish, enjoys being kept in groups/schools

of questionable quality if found at all.

Aquarium: 4oL minimum A planted tank is suitable for them, as long as some swimming room is left
open on the bottom of the tank, since that is where they will spend most of their time. Soft sand or fine
gravel substrate.
Water chemistry: pH 7.5, 5 –20dH (5), 68 -82°F (20-28°C)
Social behaviour: Peaceful, males can be somewhat quarrelsome amongst themselves

FOOD: Live or frozen black worms, brine shrimp or bloodworms.
