Tango ’ s got no gurus
We have too many ... too many ... too many “ Experts ” in Tango . Whoever wants to wear the title , feel free to do so .
Nobody can say they own the truth . NOBODY . I remember once having a coffee with José Gobello in his office at the Academia Porteña del Lunfardo ( Buenos Aires ’ s Lunfardo Academy ), he told me : “ Mario , don ’ t get mad , TANGO IS MADE UP OF LITTLE PIECES ”. Tango is a huge kaleidoscope where all shades of feeling fit , porteños , in particular , human in general . That ’ s why , it gives me something when I see these “ geniuses ” that seem to have discovered gunpowder regarding Tango , and claim they can teach the square within the circle , explaining in complicated terms , all that , which can only be learned through emotions , from the innermost feelings , not from mind ’ s labyrinths .
Considering Tango form its “ Science ”... Could it be that Discepolín , Troilo , El Cacha , Petróleo , Los Homeros , Canaro , Aieta , Pugliese , had a proper understanding of anatomy , psychology , sociology , musicology , etc . as this new “ interdisciplinary approach ”?
But what really shocks me , is to see people who supposedly are from , and love Tango , worship these new “ leaders ” that keep trying to explain something ,
