COLORES
DEL OTOÑO
JORGE
RETAMOZA
Argentinian saxophonist
and composer, Jorge
Retamoza is considered
as a forerunner of the
introduction of sax in Tango
language and has taken his
music around many local
and international theaters,
performing as soloist for
the main symphonic groups
in Argentina, apart from
playing with his band in
several jazz and tango
festivals within the country
as well as Latin America
and Europe. He is also the
author of El tango desde el
saxo (Tango from the sax),
a practical workbook on
the development of tango
language with sax.
Continuing the exploration,
he began in the ‹90s,
working on Tango through
jazz expressions and
academic procedures,
“Colores de Otoño”
(“Autumn colors”), his
latest production by PAI
Records, is a 9 original work
selection plus a version of
26
“Solo en la Multitud” (“Alone
in the crowd”) composed
by Eduardo Rovira (one
of Retamoza›s influential
artists). This new record
reveals in concrete terms
possible ways for the XXI
century porteña music,
using a charismatic concept
of writing, and improvisation
with tango vocabulary as a
central element.
