Airlines Fare Increases Due to
Return of Fuel Surcharge

THE Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) issued a
resolution granting the appeal of local airlines to
impose a fuel surcharge on Monday, September 10.

Airlines are set to increase this month after
board officials allowed local airlines to reimpose
fuel surcharges for both domestic and international
flights.

A fuel surcharge is a fee assessed by a
carrier to account for variations in fuel costs.

Local airlines like Philippine Airlines and
Cebu Pacific Air, requested for the reimposition of
the additional charges due to the increasing cost of
aviation fuel in the global market.

The transportation department also approved
a fuel surcharge matrix.

Transportation Undersecretary for Aviation
Manuel Antonio Tamayo said the fare hike is
necessary, as the aviation industry is also affected
by the rising oil prices in the world market and due
to the implementation of TRAIN Law.

According to Tamayo, the increase will
depend on the number of miles a passenger travels.

Domestic flights may increase from Php34-
800. The one way fare from Manila to Cebu may
increase from Php101-590 while international
flights may increase from Php163-10,000.

Tamayo said they will monitor airfares, and
make sure that airlines come up with a ”fair” fare

UMABOT sa 500 bilang ng residente mula Solid East
Barangay sa Batangas City ang nagbigay ng kanilang
dugo sa blood letting activity ng City Health Office
(CHO) at Rural Health Unit 6 (RHO) sa covered court
ng Pallocan West noong Lunes, ika-10 ng Setyembre.

Katuwang din ang Batangas Medical Center
sa naganap na programa. Dito dadalhin ang 225,000
cc dugo na nakolekta upang ma-examine at maibigay
sa mga pasyenteng nangangailangan ng dugo.

Ayon kay Liceria Garcia, nurse II ng CHO,
“Ang paghahandog ng dugo ay isang kabayanihan
dahil sa bawat patak ng dugo na kanilang inialay
ay may mga buhay na masasagip kaya huwag
panghinayangan ang dugo na mababawas sa kanilang
katawan dahil mabilis itong mapapalitan ng mismong
katawan ng mga taong nag-alay ng dugo. Mainam ito
sa mga donor’s kasi nakatulong na sila, nakakaganda
pa ito sa sistema ng katawan nila.”

Ayon kay Johny Navarte, Galloner awardee,
48 taon gulang at naninirahan sa Barangay Dumantay,
ito na ang ika-labing isang beses niya na mag donate
ng dugo.

Ayon pa kay Navarte, ang pag kakaloob ng
dugo ay hindi kabawasan sa sinuman nagbibigay nito.

“Para sa akin, mas nakakabuti pa nga sa
katawan ko na mabawasan ang dugo ko dahil sa loob
lang ng ilang minuto ay napapalitan agad ng bago
dugo. Mabuti ito dahil nakakaiwas ako sa mga sakit
tulad ng pigsa, tigdas, bulutong tubig at iba pang sakit
sa balat. Nakakapag paganda pa rin ito ng kutis at
nakakatulong pa sa kapwa,” saad niya. (PIO Batangas
