A traditional ceremonial toast that marks the opening program of PAHIMIS 2019 was led by Amadeo Mayor Conrado Viado along with guests from the Department of Tourism, the Philippine Coffee Board,Inc. and the Office of the Provincial Governor. In his welcome message, Mayor Viado expressed gratefulness to Senator Cynthia Villar, Congressman Jon-Jon Ferrer and Governor Boying Remulla for their all-out support that made the event possible. More importantly, the mayor did not forget the coffee farmers who truly deserve all the recognition for their contribution to Amadeo’s history and culture through a simple awarding rite to further acknowledge their heroism. Meanwhile, Municipal Tourism Officer Jam Tibayan spearheaded the conduct of various activities that showcased Amadeo’s pride including coffee farm tours, trade fairs and colorful street dance. Ms. Tibayan also thanked coffee advocate and Kape Isla Co-Chairperson Chit Juan, the DOT, DTI and the Department of Agriculture for their commitment and endeavors right from the very beginning of the PAHIMIS milestone. Likewise, Ms. Tibayan thanked everyone who joined the trade fairs and parade especially Indang Municipal Councilor Ping Remulla who was present on behalf of Governor Boying Remulla. The festival wouldn’t be complete without the lively performance of street dancers in their coffee wearables. As such, LGU-Amadeo expressed appreciation to the cooperation of the academe, the teachers, parents and students of public and private schools in Amadeo who gave their best to the street dance competition. Amadeo National High School topped the judges’ score for the secondary category, being hailed Champion and also proudly took home the Best in Costume Award; while Loma Elementary School bagged the same awards for the primary level. The performances lifted up the festive mood sky-high, making visitors and coffee enthusiasts hope for more in the coming years of PAHIMIS.
