Mangingisdang hindi nakapaghanapbuhay bunga
ng masamang panahon tumanggap ng tulong
NAMAHAGI ng mga tulong
na pagkain sina Mayor
Beverley
Dimacuha
at
Congressman Marvey Mariño
kahapon, August 16, sa mahigit
sa 1,000 mangingisda na
hindi nakapaghanapbuhay ng
halos isang linggo dahilan sa
nagdaang masamang panahon.
Ayon kay Mayor
Dimacuha, ang packs of goods
na naglalaman ng bigas, mga
de lata, noodles at iba pa
ay kaunting tulong sa mga
apektadong mangingisda. “Ito
po ay ayuda namin sa inyo,
dahil alam po namin na halos
ay isang linggo na kayong
hindi nakaka palaot dahil sa
malakas na alon bunsod nitong
habagat, sana po kahit paano
ay makatulong ito sa inyo,”
sabi ng Mayor.
Namahagi rin sila ng
disaster kit sa ilang barangay.
Ang mga tumanggap ng tulong
ay ang mga rehistradong
mangingisda sa Fisheries
Division ng Office of the City
Veterinary and Agricultural
Services (OCVAS). Sila ay
nakatira sa mga baybaying
barangay ng lungsod at mga
ng Sta. Clara, Wawa, Malitam,
Cuta at Sta. Rita Aplaya.

alumna invents chemical City BFP and volunteers rekindle
refrigerant-free air
ties to protect the city from fire

A
Philippine
Science
High
School (PSHS) alumna might
just revolutionize present day
air conditioners after inventing
an air conditioning technology
that does not use a chemical
refrigerant, and consumes low
energy.
The
Department
of Science and Technology
introduced
Maria Yzabell
Angel V. Palma and her
technology during a press
conference held in Quezon
City. Palma is one of the top
students of PSHS Bicol Region
Campus Class 2018.
Palma invented the
AirDisc Air
Conditioning
Technology, a system with a
disc-shaped compressor based
on low compression pressure
and high volume of air
molecules as refrigerant with
very low energy consumption.
Existing
air
conditioning
systems
use
piston or rotary compressors
with
high
pressure
and
low volume with harmful
hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) as
medium for cooling.
While,
Palma’s
technology uses “the air
we breathe” as the cooling
medium, which means it is
safe to the consumers and to
the environment.
She said she seeks
to provide poor families,
especially those who live in
hot, humid places, the means
to afford an air conditioning
unit since her AirDisc AC
Technology has low electricity
consumption at 150 watts
only. Palma also shared to
media that some companies
already showed interest on her
technology.
For this invention,
Palma was recognized by the
International Federation of
Inventors’ Association (IFIA)
after being awarded by 10
organizations
under
their
association: Leading Innovator
Award from International
Intellectual

Network Forum (Malaysia);

“Interdependent people combine
their own efforts with the efforts
of others to achieve their greatest
success.” So said Stephen Covey.
AND so do the Batangas City Fire
Station and Triskelion Rescue
and Emergency Assistance Team
(TREAT), Phils., Inc. as the
partners renewed their teamwork
in a program on August 11.
With the theme, “10
Taon ng Boluntaryong Pagtulong
sa Kapwa at Pagliligtas ng
Buhay,” the cooperation and
teamwork among the Bureau
of Fire Protection – Batangas
City Fire Station, the City
Government,
and
civilian
volunteers like Triskelion are a
strong combination in protecting
lives and property from fire.
“Public
safety
through fire prevention and fire
suppression is a responsibility
the BFP cannot bear on its own.
We need the faithful and selfless
help of volunteers like Triskelion
and the cooperation of the
community,” said F/SInsp Elaine
Baylon-Evangelista,
Batangas
City fire marshal.
Triskelion, with 70
active members, has been a
devoted partner of the BFP
Batangas City for a decade now
not only in terms of firefighting
efforts of the government but also
in rescue operations in times of
disasters or emergencies.
Evangelista added that
with the present inadequacy of the
personnel of the Fire Station with
only 28 personnel, volunteers like
Triskelion is a big boost to its
force. 10 years
The
renewal
of
partnership and revitalization
program between the City Fire
Station and TREAT coincided
with the team’s 10th anniversary
celebration.
“Today is the beginning
of a more empowered partnership
among public servants, driven by
one goal that is public safety,”
said Evangelista.
“Our collective goal is
to have the trust and confidence
of the people of Batangas City,
with them knowing that they
are safe from any harm because
a reliable team of firefighters
and lifesavers are there for them
anytime, anywhere,” Evangelista
added.
The lady fire marshal
also said that with this move
of cooperation, she hopes to
encourage more volunteers for
the noble service of saving lives
and property. (PIO Batangas
