Malugod na ipinamahagi kamakailan ng
pamahalaang panlalawigan ng Batangas
sa pangunguna ni Gov. Dodo Mandanas,
ang mga computer equipment at vocational
technology machines sa mga school heads
at guro ng mga public elementary and high
schools ng lalawigan.
Sa pamamagitan ng Provincial School
Board (PSB) Secretariat, na pinamumunuan
ni Ms. Evelyn Estigoy, nakapamahagi ng
87 na laptops; 7 units ng single needle lock
stitch machines; 45 units ng mechanical
dough roller; at 150 units ng arc welding
machines at mga accessories. Kasama din
sa nagbigay ng mga nasabing kagamitan
sina Mrs. Merly Pasatiempo ng Scholarship
Division at Dr. Felizardo Bulaños, Assistant
Division Superintendent ng Department of
Education Batangas Province.
Sa mensahe ni Gov. Mandanas,
ipinahayag niya na napakahalaga ng ginagawa
ng mga guro sa paghubog ng pagkatao ng
mga kabataan bilang sila ang mga susunod
ng lider ng bayan. Ang pamamahagi ng
mga kagamitan ay makakatulong sa mga
guro aniya upang mas maitaas ang antas
ng pagtuturo at wastong pagbabahagi ng
mga dapat matutunan ng mga mag-aaral,
partikular sa mga skills development ng mga
nasa senior high school.
Dagdag pa niya, bukod sa mga
naibigay na kagamitan ay pinaplano din na
magkakaroon ng libreng internet sa bawat
eskwelahan sa Lalawigan ng Batangas
bago matapos ang taon at maglalaan din ng
budget para sa Brigada Eskwela bago ang

write the names of the candidates they are
voting.
Fifteen- to 17-year old voters will
be given one ballot for SK election only, 18
to 30-year-old voters will be given ballots
for SK and barangay elections, and 31-year
and older voters will only vote for barangay
officials.

Amadeans give thanks thru Pahimis Festival 2018

AMADEO, Cavite, (PIA) -- The annual
Pahimis Festival of the municipality of
Amadeo is in full gear with a three-day
activity-filled celebration slated on April
25 - 27.
The annual celebration aims
to promote Cavite coffee varieties for
domestic and worldwide consumption,
to encourage and revive the interest of
farmers towards coffee farming, increase
coffee yields through proper techniques and
skills training, and to create a competitive
coffee price in the world market.
The
municipality
of
Amadeo
being dubbed as the Coffee Capital of the
Philippines boasts of its 4,508 hectares
of coffee farmland, the largest land area
devoted to coffee farming in the entire
upland of Cavite, making it the province’s
biggest coffee producer.
Several activities for the festival are
lined up for the local and tourist revelers
to enjoy like the search for the “Coffee
Queen” or the “Mutya ng Pahimis”, coffee
talk and demonstrations, the unique coffee
dance marathon and the yearly float parade,
revealed Amadeo tourism officer Jam
Tibayan.
Other activities also include a
thanksgiving mass, recognition of the Most
Outstanding Coffee Farmer, exhibit of local
food/delicacies, a trade fair, a variety of
shows for the entertainment of guests and
a coffee farm tour on Day 1 promoting the
agri-tourism sites.
To invite the people of Cavite to visit
Amadeo and join the festivities, pre-event
activities will be held at the Provincial
Capitol City grounds, Trece Martires on
April 18 – 20 and 22 namely: a coffee exhibit,
on-the-spot painting contest (using coffee as
medium), coffee “wearables”, and a cooking
demonstration, Ms. Tibayan announced.
With the annual Pahimis festival in
thanksgiving for the bountiful harvest and
blessings, Amadeo indeed is blessed. (Ruel

GEN. MARIANO ALVAREZ, Cavite, (PIA) -- The
municipal government of General Mariano Alvarez (GMA),
the Department of the Interior and Local Government and
the EcoWaste Coalition, a non-government organization,
partner recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement for
the “Cavite Zero Waste Project.”
Held at the Materials Recovery Facility in
Poblacion1 in the municipality, the signing was led
by GMA Mayor Walter Echevarria, Jr. stating that this
initiative will complement and reinforce the earnest efforts
to clean up the barangays, reduce garbage generation, and
heighten municipal compliance to R.A. 9003.
The said project will strengthen the overall
implementation of the national ordinance also known as
the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act through
direct capacity building activities in seven focal barangays
and outreach interventions for the 20 other barangays all
over the municipality.
This initiative is in cooperation with the
Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office led
by Michael Templonuevo had been in the forefront of this
environment clean and is implementing the safe closure
and rehabilitation of its controlled waste disposal site.
In addition, it operates a biogas digester at
Nicolasa Virata Public Market that is capable of treating
50 kilos of biodegradable market and waste wastewater
daily and runs a portable biogas digester for household and
community use that is able to treat three kilos of domestic
waste per day.
EcoWaste Coalition president Eileen Sison
expressed enthusiasm for the project’s success as she
hopes “to translate to greater citizens’ awareness and
involvement on ecological solid waste management
(EWSM) at the barangay level.”
The organization will conduct a study on
household ESWM practices, implement a capacity
building program for the seven focal barangays, and
provide technical assistance to these barangays to enhance
existing SWM ordinances.
Likewise, the group will also initiate awareness and
outreach activities to the other 20 barangays and the
association of junk shop operators and waste pickers in the
