About Taman Sari

Taman Sari Primary School is located in the village of Medas Bentaur, in Tanjung Region, North Lombok, Indonesia. Medas Bentaur has a population of 907, and their main source of income is picking and selling bamboo or construction work. Taman Sari was one of the schools whose buildings were destroyed by the earthquakes. In the aftermath of the disaster, Pelita Foundation and Classroom of Hope identified the school as being of high need and constructed four temporary pop-up classrooms on the site, which were still in use until work on the Eco-Block School started, but which were in a dilapidated condition.

Since all but one of its classrooms were destroyed in the 2018 Lombok earthquakes, Taman Sari Primary School has been operating in four temporary pop-up classrooms supplied by Classroom of Hope and Pelita Foundation. These temporary structures have now been replaced with five permanent Eco-Block classrooms, which provide students and teachers with an environmentally sustainable, safe learning space.
