1959 in Accra, Ghana, is a English-Ghanaian actor who comes from an academic family. He was born in Ghana, to parents of Ashanti origin but he moved to Hertfordshire, England, with his father, an engineer, his mother, a writer and two younger sisters at a young age. Mensah emigrated from Britain to see the world and it was a toss up whether his destination would be Canada or Australia. The paperwork for Canada came through first and he worked for British Gas developing gas fields at Morecomb Bay. Peter Mensa made his TV debut in 1995 on the TV series Nancy Drew. Mensah, who has practiced martial arts since the age of 6 received his first major break when he was cast as a main character on the Sparz action drama Spartacus Blood and Sand as Doctor Oenomaus a former gladiator tasked with training new recruits at the house of Batiatus. Peter reprised his role Doctore Oenomaus for the prequel series Spartacus God of the Arena and the sequel Spartacus Vengence. Recently, he did the voice and likeness of Sgt. Zach Hammond in EA’ s video game Dead Space. Peter Mensa also had a recurring role on the HBO supernatural drama True Blood as Kibwe Akinjide a chancellor of the Authority who tried to capture Russell Edgington. He met James Cameron in a parking lot, and Cameron cast him in Avatar on the spot.
