In 2004, a neighbor filed a complaint against the Birketts' shows and a city court shut them down. The Birketts moved.
"Chris has helped me a lot in the last five or six years. Helped me with the artificial snow machines,” Stacey said.
Not everyone has been supportive of Birkett’s love for holiday shows.
A neighbor filed a complaint about Birkett’s shows. The complaint went to court and the Birkett family received a lot of national attention. A municipal judge shut down Birkett’s shows.
Birkett has since moved and continues on with the shows each year.
“One day I looked in the mirror and I was like ‘This is my life and this is my life story’” Birkett said.
