1856 — Gail Borden invents method for condensing milk

1920s— Electric refrigerators become common in U.S. homes
1932 — Victor Farris invents of the paper milk carton. Or maybe it was John Van Wormer in 1915. Anyway milk cartons become popular in the 1930s.

1960s — Plastic milk jugs introduced
1975 — Home delivery of milk falls to 6.9 percent
