What is a charter school?

A charter school is a public school, funded by the state and regulated by the state Board of Education, the state Board of Charter Schools, or a local school district.

Charter schools are not allowed to charge tuition. Charter schools must accept all students, including students with disabilities.

Charter schools may cap enrollment at certain size and conduct an equitable system for available openings.
