Talented caught up with the up and coming 26 yr old Atlanta based rapper
GeorgiaBoy to get the inside scoop on beats, rhymes, and life.
Talented: Thanks for sitting down and doing the interview for talented the magazine.
GeorgiaBoy: No problem, I love the support FAM.
Talented: How long have you been doing your thing on the mic?
GeorgiaBoy: I have been on the mic since I was around 4 years old, started doing music in the church choir, and then continued on to elementary school.
Talented: You’ve been rapping for 14 years now wow! I imagine the road has been long and hard can you name some of the challenges you faced that some of our young MC’s might not be prepared for.
GeorgiaBoy: Yeah homie it’s been a long 14 years but worth it, I been in the industry since I was 19, started off singing, then decided to rap at the age of 12. And some of the challenges I have faced was support, not too many people are going to support your dream in the beginning. Also it was hard to keep a girlfriend, because its constant questioning of what I'm doing when I'm not at the house, in order to be a rapper it takes a lot of hard work, dedication and long hours. I also went broke a few times in my career because I had to choose either a 9 to 5 and get regular income or to go on the road to chase a dream which is not promised. This shit doesn’t come easy, if you don't have a strong mind, this shit will break you down.
Talented: Congrats on your new video Abra-ca-dabra a smash hit which features Dirty Mouth of Trillville how did you link up with him for this video?
GeorgiaBoy: Well I have known Dirty Mouth since 2007, I met him at the first annual A-Town day in 07. This isn't the first song we have done, and we also have done a few shows on the road together as well... dats my big homie..
Talented: What inspires you to be a MC? What will GeorgiaBoy bring to the game of hip hop to take it to the next level?
GeorgiaBoy: What inspires me, is really the pain I have experienced in life, I wanna b a spokesperson, not only a rapper, but someone who can share my stories wit the world and motivate the ones who has a similar struggle. And I feel what I will bring to the game and take me far, is my originality, I like to be different, I wanna stand for something, a lot of these new rappers try to imitate other rappers and duplicate what they see
