The Fulton County Sheriff’ s Office carries a central responsibility in protecting life and property and preserving public peace throughout the county. The Sheriff has three key constitutional duties: ensure court security, manage the county jail, and act as the chief law enforcement officer for the county. These responsibilities are carried out every day by deputies, detention officers, and professional staff on the Fulton County Sheriff’ s Office team.
Led by Sheriff Patrick Labat, whose leadership emphasizes transparency and community engagement the FCSO team consistently demonstrates their commitment to“ Service”, the agency’ s mission statement. Despite the inherent stress and danger of the profession, these law enforcement officers fulfill their duty to safeguard the courts and community at large.
Since 2021, the Sheriff’ s Office has partnered with
local retailers to bless youth and their families so they experience a joyful holiday season. The annual“ Shop With The Sheriff” event, held in partnership with Target Atlantic Station for the past three years, provides youth in need the opportunity to shop alongside FCSO team members with $ 150 in gift cards. Funding for the program is collected from various community sponsors including the Fulton County Sheriff’ s Foundation.
The initiative allows deputies and detention officers to show a more personal side of law enforcement, strengthening relationships that extend beyond the jail and the courthouse. Organizers say the event often leads to touching moments, such as when children, while selecting gifts, ask to buy something for their parents. The program’ s mission is to reaffirm that the hearts of Fulton County sworn officers are“ bigger than their badges”, reflecting the agency’ s dedication to service and compassion.
