challenges and needs in the long journey of life and practice . Although the Award is not limited to the past year ’ s achievements per se , it is remarkable that within the past Board year alone Judge Morris has contributed to causes and events our Section has sponsored or is affiliated with such as : Wellness Institute Retreat of the State Bar of Georgia , Women ’ s History Month and supporting CLEs , WIP DRS and GABWA ’ s joint Spring CLE and Reception on health concerns for decision makers , Lawyers Living Well , Lawyers Assistance Program , Suicide Awareness and Prevention , and Walk Out of Darkness to name just a stellar few .
Historically when seeking betterment in society or in a profession , power is not merely sourced from within but accelerated through allied voices and support in rooms where decisions are being made . Our cohesive profession benefits from those who are privy to audience of Judge Morris ’ voice and treatment of others in furthering the interests of women in the profession , prioritizing wellness , or extending grace to those who advocate for themselves or others . I stand empowered in my own skin with strength and gratitude for these contributions .
Individually , each contribution has been invaluable to our membership and surely furthered success toward our Section ’ s mission . Collectively , this outstanding work has led to the name of the Hon . Shondeana C . Morris as the 2024 Recipient of the Atlanta Bar Association ' s Outstanding Woman in the Profession Achievement Award and shall be included in its reference for all years to come .
We look forward to celebrating Judge Morris with remarks and formal presentation of this Award on June 21st at Piedmont Driving Club .
