Introduction of Judge Thomas W. Thrash, Jr.
The following remarks were given by James M. Sherman upon presentation of the Logan Bleckley Award to Judge Thomas W. Thrash, Jr. The Logan Bleckley Award, given annually by the Litigation Section of The Atlanta Bar, recognizes a judge that has devoted years of public service to the judiciary.
T he highlight of the bar year for the litigation section is this Bench and Bar Reception.
And it is my honor tonight to introduce this year’ s recipient of the Logan Bleckley award for judicial excellence, Senior United States District Court Judge, Thomas W. Thrash, Jr.
His Honor was kind enough to connect me with several of his colleagues and former law clerks to help me prepare my remarks, and Cam Tribble graciously provided me with several articles that I have heavily borrowed from.
Tonight, I’ d like to tell you a little about Judge Thrash’ s background, his career, and his appointment to and service on the bench. I will say a few words about Justice Logan Bleckley and the award named after him, and I will end with presenting this year’ s honoree.
