From Courtroom to Court Kicks: Georgia State Law’ s Sneaker Law Course Bridging Law & Culture

The world of sneakers has long since transcended its athletic roots. Today, sneakers represent far more than performance wear— they ' re icons of culture, identity, and global commerce. With this shift, legal questions have grown just as complex as the designs themselves. Now, at the intersection of business, creativity, and intellectual property, Georgia State University College of Law is preparing its students to lace up for the future through its Sneaker Law course one of the first of its kind in the Southeast.
Offered through the Entertainment, Sports & Media Law Initiative, the class reflects Georgia State Law’ s commitment to innovative, practice-based education.
The course is based on the groundbreaking Sneaker Law textbook co-authored by attorneys Kenneth Anand and Jared Goldstein, both veterans in the fashion and entertainment legal world. Anand, former Head of Business Development and General Counsel at Yeezy, and Goldstein, a longtime fashion attorney, designed the book and later, the class to teach law students how real-world legal principles play out in the high-stakes, billion-dollar sneaker industry.
